It's official. The V220 and Ultra V are being reissued, and will debut at NAMM.
First of all, Carvin will not be ready to accept orders until next week. So, hold off on your questions directly to them until after NAMM. You can ask here, and I will try to get you an answer.
Here are the specs I have so far.
V220
alder body/maple neck-thru
25" scale
all wood options offered (walnut, mahogany, quilt, flame, etc)
all finish options offered
all fingerboard options offered
2 pickups/CT-style control layout
Floyd Rose or M-bridge
V headstock standard
Ultra V
newer ('88 - '93) body style with sharp points
redesigned "pointy" headstock standard
alder body/maple neck-thru
25" scale
all wood options offered (walnut, mahogany, quilt, flame, etc)
all finish options offered
all fingerboard options offered
2 pickups/CT-style control layout
Floyd Rose or M-bridge
The build time right now is estimated at 12 weeks as production ramps up. Keep this in mind when ordering.
PRICING HAS NOT BEEN FINALIZED - but what I heard was good.
This is just the preliminary info - there will be more to come. But as I said, don't bug Carvin about it just yet - they aren't equipped to take orders yet.
The X220 and V440 may be reissued down the road - but not at this time.
I'll keep everyone posted.

BTW, those two pics are "actual", brand-new instruments - the ones that will be at NAMM. |

Hey, that's cool. I'll be interested if they do a V440. How well did the V220/V440 balance? In my experience the V (not the Carvin) doesn't balance well at all. |

Any pics of the back, with the neck heel? And also, once I pay off my Carvin Card, can I do the 12 months no interest again? |

I still think those 220/440's look best with block inlays. |

Plus one on LH.
This is an interesting development. I wonder if the prices will be more DC or CT, or even higher.
I would be interested to know how comfortable the 220 is to sit with and as previously mentioned how well the V balances. I wonder if diamond inlays will become available on other models ? As classical player I wonder if I could sit with the lower point of the V between my legs.
Hm. Interesting...they are certainly fun guitars. |

Certainly I'm not one to care what's between your legs, but...
While sitting down I play electric guitar in a classical position. I also own a V220T and it seems made for playing in this manner. Very comfortable!
Will Carvin do the standard inline headstock?

Yeah, I'll forget it just because you don't like them... I'm glad a bunch of us kept pushing in spite of the naysayers to get the V's back at all! |
