Thanks in advance.

I used to own an SX300 and 200. I think they are very good solid state amps.

I'm really wanting to try a Nomad or Belair, but I have never had the chance to play any Carvin amp. A guy has a SX 200 for $125, I figure it might be worth a try for that price. Thing is it's about 150 miles away and gas being liquid gold...I would probably be in it $200 by the time I got it home. Eh?

I guess I should ask is it worth $200 and a half a day chasing it.

I own both an SX200 head and an SX300 combo. for the money they are great amps! Even though I have several tube amps I still enjoy playing through these two. Not to mention that they are very lightweight and easy to transport.

For what you describe I think it is a reasonable price but I would still like to see it, play it and inspect before I buy and I would be looking for a little compromise, meet me part way or drop the price a little.

Yes, they are any good. The tough question is, are they good enough for you?

What amps have you owned/used previously?

I gigged with an SX300 for a few years and was quite happy.
After getting a used Nomad last year and getting the hasserl mods done to it, I sold the SX300.

It's all relative. And everything Old Dawg said is true! Cool

I think I'm gonna pass on it. I really want to try a Nomad or Belair. I know where there is a nice Vintage 33. Wink

As for the amps I have owned...too many to list in the last 35 years. I will say my favorite and the one that sticks out in my mind was my Mesa Boogie Rocket 44 1x12 combo and 1x12 Thiel closed back extension cabinet.

But in my humble opinion I think as guitar players age/progress/taste/style change...so does our gear.

Maybe what worked for a slim pretty boy in spandex and teased up hair in 1987 doesn't fit the bill for a pot belly receding hairline old rocker in 2012. Very Happy ... Crying

You're mocking me, aren't you? Wink

Okay, you've been around the block a couple of times. A Vintage series amp will make you happier than an SX, despite what a great value the SX amps are. Especially if you're willing to make a mod or two. That's this balding, pot-belly'd man's opinion. Mr. Green

Mr. Green ElfDude...so your in the same boat with me huh? LOL.

Well I'm in a tube mood again. About a year ago I sold my Fender Blues DeVille (older USA version) 4x10 and I was playing a Fender SRV Strat with that amp and it was pure magic. Drool

Anyway sold both and moved on to different gear, just always looking for something else to keep me amused for 5 minutes. Smile
