Well, I've had this Strat for a while now -- it's the same one I got in trade for "Blue" (the Carvin SH550 I got last year from Crue here).

Well, I first dressed her up with a red torty pickguard, which I loved against the black. But I was fixing to do some electronics switching and wondered what she would like like all in black with a black pearloid PG. Man, I love the looks. Judge for yourselves:

BEFORE:

and ...
AFTER (NOW):

What I've done this week is pulled out the red torty PG with Fender Alnico V pickups on it, and slipped them into my Carvin TLB60 kit guitar I built last year. I got a chance to give it a test drive Thursday and it sounds amazing.

So, for Black Pearl, I installed a set of Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot pickups with black covers, upgraded pots and and so on, along with the black pearloid PG, black control knobs and switch knob. She's all dressed up and ready to rock 'n' roll.

Looks awesome!!!
And I love the name of the guitar being "Black Pearl"
Makes me think of Prates of the Caribbean.
Crue approves. Cool

To me the all-black theme looks better (I'm not an all-black guitar fan either). The black / red tort / white looked a bit busy and somewhat out of place IMO. Or at least relative to the new look anyway. Nice switch. Cool

I'm definitely agreeing with you +10 ...

Plus, I think this looks gives this ol' girl attitude!
