Wow, you posted three days ago and I'm the first to "ooh" and "ahh"! This forum needs to wake up!

That is beautiful. I love spalt, and the satin finish was an extra gutsy move. Congrats.

Why did you decide to go with no soundhole, and how do you like it?

I figured if I was going to spend the money on a spalted top, why cut a hole through it? Mr. Green

On top of that, an AC50 still won't keep up volume wise with an acoustic guitar, so I figured if I need to amp it anyway, why not show off the wood.

I played one with a soundhole at the Carvin store and I honestly don't think there is a volume difference between the hole/no-hole option.

Makes sense to me. Have you played this bass in a "band" setting yet?

The situation where I think the soundhole makes it's difference is when the instrument is mic'ed. I think maybe it might differences in tone/sound development also? But I'm thinking all of that can be compensated for, and if you are amping it via pickups, you might as well have the wood.

Gutsy moves all the way around bro! I say, "Good on ya!" She is a beauty and I'd say she's sounds sweeter than she looks. Eh?

You're resurrecting a year old thread.

He must have felt the itch...

I wonder if it has a fretless brother yet.
