An old, beat up Carvin guitar case just arrived at work...

And there seems to be an old SH225 inside of it! And it's one of those rare black ones! The original owner also opted for the black hardware.

It's pretty dirty. I'm looking forward to getting it all cleaned up, new strings, fingerboard oiled, etc.
The frets are in excellent condition.
The finish is cracked in some areas along the lines where the body binding would be if there was body binding. Overall it's in pretty darn good condition for its age! The neck shape is way comfy for me.

More pictures and info to come!

Obviously I haven't heard it yet. But I sure like the light feel and the shape of the neck. Really easy to play.

That is nice!

I've always wanted a natural finish one, but that's probably the most common finish.

You've always had a thing for semi-hollow body guitars...now you have one from the big C! Congrats Guitar

Sweet guitar. I really like that classy inlay thing on the headstock, too.

Thank you, gentlemen!

Here are two more pics alongside other Carvins.

Black beauties.

With the AE185.

Hey Elf,
What kind of bridge is that? I would guess that is not the most common SH225 bridge?

Wow! That's gorgeous! Nice score. I had a feeling you'd eventually end up with one of those in your collection. Congrats on a great find!

Looks like the same bidge as on my '82 SH 225. It is a Shaller bridge wih fine tuning, that combines bridge and tailpiece and mounts on a single pair of studs. Those little knobs at the rear of the unit are for fine tuning, and they really come in handy at gigs. I wish more guitars would come stock with these.

Thanks for the nice comments!

I wasn't sure about these 80's pickups at first, and was immediately thinking about doing some swapping. But the more I play the guitar, the more I find these pickups to be really useful. It's a different sound from my other Carvins, but variety is the spice of life, right? Mr. Green

This guitar and I have bonded very quickly.
Really looking forward to gigging with it! Cool
