Well, I had been kinda curious as to what was going on over at Carvin Audio. They have reopened, but are only selling mostly things like Microphones, Cables, Power conditioners, and other items, probably what's left over from the larger company.

They also now have brought out the X1 pedal, which is a preamp pedal based on the X-amp series. I'm on the fence about whether I want to pick one up.

Today, I got an email regarding the new leadership at the company:

e here at Carvin Amps & Audio wanted to take a moment to give you some exciting updates about our company.

We re-launched our website this past January ahead of the Winter NAMM Show and began moving forward with new leadership. Joel Kiesel will serve as President and Kristen Kiesel Lieurance will serve as Vice President. Joel and Kristen are the children of Carson Kiesel, who recently retired from his role as President, and grandchildren of founder Lowell Kiesel. They mark the third generation of the Kiesel family to head up the company.

In addition to the recent release of the X1 All Tube Preamp Pedal, we are currently designing new guitar, bass, and pro audio products. New product announcements will be made when gear is ready and available. Click here to sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know. We have a new, centralized U.S. warehouse that provides quicker service to customers nationwide. Products are now shipping worldwide and through select dealers. Click here to order your gear today.

We’re excited to share a new chapter in our 70+ year history with you and continue the tradition we’ve established in that time.

I can hope that this may mean an eventual return of Carvin amplification. Their bass amplifiers and cabinets were great, and I would hate to see the name go away.

That X1 pedal. I want 1 so BAD!! But at $449, nah, not so much. Mad
$250 would be better; 3 bills would be my limit.
(And yeah, I already have the head ... so its just GAS anyway. Sick )

And every time I see the video, I get the itch ... but then I look at the price.

If they fire up new Carvin USA Amps again, I may be in.

Well, for a tube based preamp pedal with a graphic EQ, $250 won't happen unless it's made in China. It's definitely got more features than tube preamp pedals like those from Two notes, and those retail at 300.

Mesa Boogie has a GEQ pedal that is 280 just by itself.

So, I don't really think the price is out of line.. with the market.

The problem is that Carvin fans have always been used to "factory direct" prices. The X-100B Series IV reissue started at $699, but that was also.. TEN years ago. Prices would probably be around 799 or maybe even 849 now.

I think I will end up getting one, just because it really does sound good. I am sure it would sound even better with some Old Production tubes under the hood.

Yeah. Carvin Resale strikes again. Also looks like the 90's ones go for more than the Series IV reissue. Hopefully Carvin Audio can figure itself out.
