Oh yeah, The Ox was THE Man.

He will be missed, BUT, what a rock'n'roll way to go....... Guitar

Funny thing is that no one has ever been able to copy his style.
He called it lead bass guitar.

How about his solo on the 5:15.......

5:15

Holy crap. I had no idea anyone from the Who could play like that! I thought they were all just solid kind of rhythm players. I had no idea that Entwistle could solo like that!

Never realized that bassline was so awesome. Went back and listened to the song afterward the bass is mixed a bit low, IMO it should be right up there with the guitar.

I can't wait to get home and play this on a computer with speakers (mine at work doesn't have them).

I saw The Who in Berlin, Germany in 1970 and again in '72, and I was blown away by what John covered with his bass. Years later, I saw him do a segment on a PBS show (I think it was PBS) called "Rock School". He did the segment on bass guitar playing. Just him, alone, with his rig. Incredible dexterity -- IMO THE BEST and most proficient bass player I've ever seen or heard.
