Hey guys.
Need some help please.
Someone just offered me a cab (carvin 412)
with 4 x 12 " speakers 400w, 8 ohm . Sounds great !! by the way
Itīs supposed to be a couple of years old
The sales guy says that itīs a bass cab but i cant find specs. etc. anywhere.
It only says Carvin 412 on the back !! no letters or otherwise to indicate model nr...

Does anyone know this cab ? Very Happy

Typically, a 4-12" is a guitar cabinet. A 4-10" is usually a bass cabinet. Doesn't mean 12's aren't used for bass, as there are many 1-12" and 2-12" (and other configuration) cabinets around.

A quick look through the Carvin website shoes 4-12" cabs in the guitar section...

Carvin built 4x12 bass guitar cabinets back in the eighties.
Back then, bass cabs were frequently just guitar cabs with different speakers in them.

If that's what it is, it should have the older, curved Carvin logo. The current block logo came around about the same time 4x12 bass cabs went away (1988-ish)

Carvin also made some cool 4x10 guitar cabs in the nineties.

I stand corrected! Embarassed I didn't remember either one of those. I guess the Carvin Museum web page would have been a good place to check... Mr. Green

Typically, a 4x12 is a guitar cab. Yes.
And a 4x10 is usually a bass cab. Right.
Nothing wrong in what you posted. I was just pointing out exceptions.

Not trying to change the thread but I have a Carvin instrument mic and love it. It ain't for vocals but it does a fabulous job with my amps.
