I have been having a great time playing in D tuning D-G-C-F-A-D lately.
It started with drop C but then I tuned the bottom C back to a D and find it really cool and still heavy and powerful. It has become kinda like my new trade mark tuning.

Anyone else using this tuning much?

I've got one guitar in it right now. It's a nice tuning.

I plan to have a guitar dropped to that and intonated once I get a guitar to keep standard for playing the metalz. Or 1/2 step down, depends I think I run into 1/2 step more often, they both sound great though.

yeah I keep my bolt in d standard. It sounds great with the m22sd in the bridge.
I messed around with string gauges too, since standard 10'a felt a little too loose to me. For drop tuning ernie ball heavy bottoms are great. A thicker sound while still being able to bend easily. Kind of amazing that SRV used 13's Shocked
