Tammy's dad was in a wreck an hour or 2 ago - we're told that his pickup was broadsided by a dump truck that ran a red light. They also told us that the air bag failed to deploy. Last word was he was on his way to the hospital, was talking and complaining of a headache, but was not entirely coherent.

I got no problems hedging my bets with the forces that run the universe - if any of you could offer up prayers, positive thoughts, mojo, ju-ju, whatever, that he suffers no more than a headache, soundchick and I would sure appreciate it.

Best wishes. I hope the injuries turn out to be relatively minor.

Thanks guys - it means a lot knowing y'all are in our corner...........

Latest update (and I'm sorry that they're sporadic but the folks that I have to rely upon for info are the caregivers right now).

First, Shep seems to be OK - banged up some, monster headache, still somewhat confused but surprisingly lucid. I hope it's just the adrenaline rush talking, but he seems to show more concern for his pickup than himself - that bothers me a little. But hey! Maybe he KNOWS he's OK while the rest of us are still guessing.

"Facts" as I have them: he was stopped at a red light; it turned green; he looked both ways (periphreal vision is diminished); entered the intersection and BAM. Reports indicate that the dump truck didn't attempt to stop for the red light. It's possible that he may have even accelerated to "beat" the light. But none of the witnesses (yes! THREE of them) mention hearing the sound of "sqwalling: (sp??) brakes. Tammy got to talk to him for a minute or 2. He said the the front of the pickup is "gone". Whether physically gone or simply totalled - I dunno. To me, it's still good news - another 2 to 3 feet and the outcome may not have been this good as it would have nailed the passenger compartment. Still a mystery is why the air bag failed to deploy......

Thanks again guys. Please keep them in your thoughts. MaMa's pretty much a basket case right now. Hopefully we'll have him back home and her returned to calm within a day or so.

Well, I can't send "mojo" as I have no idea what that means...

But I can send Paul, Tammy and Tammy's dad my best wishes for a full recovery and that the injuries are not serious.

Paul, Tammy.... We'll be lifting you both as well as Your Dad. Prayer is one thing I can do from any place, or distance and hook up faster than any form of "messaging" known!! Believing for a full recorvery, and settled nerves for "Mom", and Ya'll as well.

Add my mojo, ju-ju, and prayers to those in the mix for your dad a,d you guys. My son got creamed in a wreck when he was 17. They had to cut him out of the cut. Turned out OK but it was pretty scary. Same deal -- some woman in a huge pickup truck blew a stop and rammed him.

Prayers and mojo work. Hope all turns out okay for y'all.

Prayers sent for healing from this accident. Pray

Technical note, a lot of airbags are designed to work in front impact collisions and being it sounds like the dump truck hit him on the side, maybe the sensors that are used to deploy the airbag were not activated.

Thank you all! Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated more than I can express.

Daddy went home last night after a battery of tests. Stiff and sore with knees that are a bit banged up, he is out and about this morning. Armed with test results and images on CD of his x-rays, he is to see his family doctor as soon as he can get in next week for follow-up. Seems he has walking pneumonia. But, the hard-headed man, he is out and about today to tell the tale. Actually, that is good. If he sat at home, he would go nuts....and take my Mama with him!

The pictures don't seem that bad to me, but thinking he was just taking off from a traffic light stop and the dump truck that hit him was most likely doing the speed limit (45) or more, Daddy was very lucky. Because the hit was not where the air bags would have deployed, he did get slammed around a bit.

In the background, you can see Daddy's dump truck. Kinda twisted that he was hit by someone in his own field of work. He knew who the guy was that hit him.

As far as I know, there was little or no damage to the dump truck or the driver. He was cited for running the red light. I do not know what, if any, other charges may be pending.
